Cardinal Richelieu was the prime minister of France during the time 1624 to 1642. He worked with Louis XIII to govern the country. He strengthened the kings rule, and he made Frandce the most powerful county of all of Europe. Richelieu was born in Paris in the year of 1585. Richelieu joined the Louis XIII's royal council in 1616. This, being in the royal council, only lasted for a short time. In 1622, he was named a cardinal by Pope Gregory XV.
